International Women’s Day Hits Different When You’re Raising a Little Girl
International Women’s Day hits different when you’re a mom to a little girl.
Before becoming a mom, the day felt like a moment to reflect on the women who came before me—their strength, their struggles, and the ways they helped shape the world we live in today.
But now, when I look at my daughter, it feels so much bigger.
Suddenly, it’s not just about the past.
It’s about the future.
It’s about the little girl watching everything we do. The little hands holding mine. The little eyes learning what it means to grow up in this world as a woman.
Sweet girl, Momma wants all the good things for you.
I wish I could promise you that the world will always treat women fairly. I wish I could say you’ll never face the struggles that so many women before you have had to face.
But the truth is, I know you may encounter some of those moments one day.
And when that day comes, I hope you remember this:
You are strong.
You are worthy.
You are capable of anything you set your mind to.
The world may not always treat women the way we deserve, but that will never define your value.
You are capable of changing the world, sweet girl.
And as your mom, I promise to do everything I can to help pave a path for you—so that maybe, just maybe, the road will be a little easier for you and the girls who come after you.
To every woman reading this today:
You are braver than you know.
You are stronger than you realize.
And whether you see it or not, you have made a difference.
