The Reality Behind 18 Reels, a Full-Time Job, and Raising a Toddler
If you saw my Facebook page this week, you probably noticed I mentioned I needed to post 18 reels before the end of the month.
I got a few messages asking, “How do you have time for all of that?”
The truth?
Some days… I don’t.
Social media has a funny way of making everyone’s lives look effortless. You see the finished reel, the clean photo, the polished caption, and maybe a smiling family picture. What you don’t see is everything happening behind the scenes.
Here’s what my life actually looks like.
I’m a full-time office administrator Monday through Friday.
I’m a wife.
I’m a mom to an energetic toddler who goes to work with me every single day.
I’m trying to grow my blog again after months of writer’s block.
I’m keeping up with subscribers, replying to comments, packing orders, brainstorming content, and trying to remember to eat lunch before the day gets away from me.
Some evenings I’m editing a reel after Maddie goes to bed.
Other nights, I’m too exhausted to even open the app.
And you know what?
Both are okay.
People See the Results, Not the Work
When someone sees 18 reels posted, it can look like content just magically appears.
In reality, those reels started as ideas in the Notes app on my phone, during my lunch break, while Maddie played beside my desk, or in the few quiet moments I could find throughout the day.
Sometimes I’ll batch record several videos in one evening.
Sometimes I’m filming in my kitchen while chasing a toddler who just discovered she can outrun me.
Sometimes a reel takes ten minutes.
Sometimes it takes an hour because someone tiny needs another snack, wants to “help,” or simply wants her mama’s attention.
I’ve Learned to Let Go of Perfect
A few years ago, I probably wouldn’t have posted unless everything looked perfect.
Perfect lighting.
Perfect makeup.
Perfect house.
Perfect wording.
Now?
Life isn’t perfect, and I don’t think it has to be.
Some of my favorite posts are the ones where I’m simply honest.
The messy ones.
The vulnerable ones.
The ones where I admit I’m struggling with motivation or feeling overwhelmed.
Ironically, those are usually the posts people connect with the most.
Balance Doesn’t Mean Every Day Looks the Same
Some weeks I’m ahead on content.
Some weeks I’m creating everything the night before.
Some weeks the laundry gets folded.
Some weeks it lives in baskets.
There isn’t a perfect balance where every area of life gets equal attention every single day.
I’ve learned balance is about priorities, not perfection.
Right now, my family is my priority.
Work helps provide for my family.
Creating content is something I genuinely enjoy, and it’s helping me build something that I hope will continue to grow for years to come.
That doesn’t mean every day feels easy.
If You’re Feeling Behind…
Maybe you’re trying to build something while working a full-time job.
Maybe you’re raising little ones.
Maybe you’re juggling more responsibilities than anyone realizes.
I want you to know you’re not alone.
You don’t have to have everything figured out today.
Progress doesn’t always look productive.
Sometimes progress is simply showing up anyway.
Sometimes it’s posting one reel instead of five.
Sometimes it’s closing your laptop and spending the evening building block towers or reading bedtime stories.
And sometimes, it’s giving yourself permission to rest.
My Goal
I’m not trying to show people a perfect life.
I’m trying to show a real one.
One where work, motherhood, content creation, and everyday life all exist together—sometimes beautifully, sometimes chaotically.
If anything I share reminds another mom or creator that they’re doing better than they think, then every late-night edit, every behind-the-scenes moment, and every honest conversation has been worth it.
Thanks for following along on this journey. I’m so glad you’re here.
